–documentation of the families’ genealogy(letters, postcards, deeds, wills, probate, photos, and other documentation)

–oral histories and stories of former and current residents of Santee

–other things that would help people wanting to construct their genealogy regarding Santee

We Need Your Help!

If you, a family member, or someone you know has any items that would help someone researching their family history, please consider donating or loaning it to the Santee Historical Society The Santee Historical Society is interested in preserving as much history as we can. Our collection mainly consists of items donated from the people that have lived and worked here, and their descendants. (That may mean YOU!) This is should give you an idea of what we are looking for:

  • Documents – letters, postcards, deeds, wills, probate, old bills of lading, etc.
  • Photographs of people or places, snapshots.
  • Old videos
  • Oral histories taken from first hand witnesses; written or recorded.
  • Recorded conversations about life in the area.
  • Property or historic items of value to Santee, California;

We plan on placing family histories, photos, genealogy, memories of Santee residents, etc. on this web page.


Please insure you are giving your items, documents, verbal histories, etc to a bonafide Board Member of the Santee Historical Society.   This is the only way you are donating to a 501(c)3 organization.

i want to thank the beautiful town of santee, as a child going to school there at chet f.harriet elemetary i was blessed to recall all the endearing things i learned as a child of nine and upon my graduation at santana in 1978 i said i would always emember the years of my education and xperience i9n the small town and the years of the sun on my face and the trees on the hill always reminding me of how fortunate i was
